Too tired to blog about many things that happened recently. Just blogging about the happy things that happened during ODAC recently. Firstly was our first outing with the J1s which was quite fun as we ate dinner at pastamania and chilled around at cathay enjoying free performances (: The pics will tell you more. Today was LTC recee which triggered off happy memories that we had last year during the camp itself. As we went through the schedule, found out that we could actually spend time studying for our blocks even during the camp itself. Will blog more tomorrow.. but for now, pictures!!

Yesterday was the last combined ODAC session for J1s and J2s. Our only PT in a year. Yesteraday's PT was not that tiring as we did only a set of exercises before playing captain's ball. What was after that was the more tiring activity. We signed up for the street soccer competition which was to be held on that day. So after PT, we went to the street soccer court for our matches. Here was how it went.

1st match
It was a really physical match where the component just aimed the legs instead of the ball and we nearly went into a fight. We are losing 2-1 at half time but managed to turn the tide around in the 2nd half, winning the game 3-2. It was a really hard fought game with many bruises and injuries to our team.

2nd match
The best match of the day with us facing against clarence's team. They played a good game in the 1st half scoring 3 goals and leading us 3-0 at the break. However, we performed a liverpool at istanbul comeback to score 3 goals in the 2nd half, levelling the game at 3-3 on the final whistle. The best game so far with sportsmanship and friendly exchange of skills.

3rd match
A game which we didn't have to play as hard as we already qualified for the quarter's which was to be held later at 6 at the court. Goals from steiner and jason brought the game to a 4-0 at half-time. In the 2nd half, we continued to dominate the game and won 8-0 at final whistle.

We will be playing our match against nicholas's team later at 1815. FOR A BEAUTIFUL GAME!!

tomorrow there's my physics mock exam and now i am still online blogging. Simply no mood to study today. Bad day in school, really bad day :/ not that because i vomitted countless times in school today but because how you see a once so called united organisation topple and disintegrating to many groups. The worst thing of all is not just that but its the decreasing number of people who are really into doing stuff for the organisation. Maybe it has gotten into me that because the activities that the organisation plan this year is not so interesting after all or that we always do the planning but not the playing. It is really pointless for us to continue attending the activities when not all of the people are really committed into giving their very best for the good of the organisation. We had been through more than a year in this organisation together already but how come we are giving it up now. People really do change by the days; when they have more commitments, shifting friends and activities aside for studies. Everyone of us have an equal amount of work load but why can we still be committed in doing this? It is ending soon.. one more activity before we pass it on. I am sorry to say this but i am glad it is ending... i can't believe i can actually say that out. After all the high hopes i have on it, it is heading towards an unhappy ending. A end that i won't want to remember.

realised i never blog for quite long already?? school has been really tiring nowadays. Ever since the start of term 2, it has been hard.. real hard to keep up with the pace of life. In a flash, block test 2 is coming and is nearing so quickily :/ somewhat relieved that OEC is over and there is only one camp remaining - LTC2007. It is going to be last camp before we pass over the torch to the J1s. The names of the selected people are up. The J1s that are going to carry on the "legacy" we left behind. Interviews is underway and time is flowing away from us. It has almost been a year since we took over from our seniors and now we are handing it over to the new batch of juniors. Time really flies... too fast that i sometimes can't imagine. The late nights of 3-4 hours of sleep just aiming to complete the work and the "trying to stay awake" mentality in school just to catch up on everything that was taught is just too hard for me to take. I need a break; but not a long one. Just a short break to pick myself up into the studying mood and be refreshed for a day of lessons in school. I need it.. soon

it has since been a year since the 24 of us joined ODAC and been through the toughest camp in ODAC. Time has really passed us by. Starting off in orientation with about 60+ people and OEC with about 50 people to the full strength now at 24, the selection process has really been tough. Forget about OEC 2006 and lets talk about OEC 2007. Preparing since November last year and the countless dry runs and recees to Ubin. We could almost navigate around the island without the map. That was how well we knew the island after the dry runs. What was different about this camp from the others is that we have to play a bad guy role by being strict and firm with the J1s because of the nature of the camp - a selection camp. It started with the memorisation of scripts for station games to learning scenarios and then rehearsing how to scold the J1s. Can you believe it? we even have to rehearse our "script" for scolding the J1s. Now we know how it felt scolding people, the feeling is not good at all. A brief outline of the camp below.
OEC2007 (27/4/07 - 29/4/07)

Day 1 (SAJC Compound)

Anxiously packing our bags the nite before and reporting at 0720 to put our bags in the trophy room. The sky started to darken and a downpour commenced at around noon. The J2s reported at around 1630 for a briefing before the camp. We had our best dinner in the cafe before rushing off to do our different roles; setting up the station games or doing facilitation with the J1s. Not all the J1s were punctual and we had to check their bags for all the necessary items. Then, station games commenced. The tone set for the camp was firm and strict so had to facilitate the games in that way but nevertheless, the J1s had fun before going on with reflection time. For the J2s, the girls slept in the trophy room while the 4 guys had the room G101 to ourselves. Lights out for guys at around 2.

Day 2 (SAJC Compound -> Palau Ubin)

We were freezing when we woke up. It was raining outside and we use ponchos to cover ourselves and took out our warm clothing. Really pitied the J1s as they have to sleep in the tents while the rain poured down on them. Had to go and wake the J1s up at 0600. Had PT with the usual routine of push-ups, sit-ups, horse stance and ranger jumps outside the GO. The J1s got punished for not unpitching their tents and had to run 3 rounds around the track before going to Ubin. Most of the J1s slept during the ride there before unloading their things at Changi jetty and taking a boat over. At Ubin, the J2s put the bags in the van before leading the J1s with their full load to Noordin Beach. Really felt bad that we had to walk so fast that the J1s had to run with their full load. Still remember the times last year where we sweared and cursed during the trek as we had to run with our full load and group logs. They were all so tired after the trek but proceeded to pitch their tents on the beach. After that was orienteering which was the most tiring and taxing activity of the day. So, with their compasses and maps, we set off for orienteering. The scenarios really shagged them out as we carried them out at marked spots. It was good to see them improving after all the scoldings done at the first part of orienteering. There were times where they navigated the way wrongly and had to turn back. All the fun starts after orienteering where the J1s had their field cooking and candle warfare. I was not there since i was advanced party for solonight and had to set off after dinner to make the xylem straws and place them at the right place. While making the xylem straws, we had fun injecting the light stick liquid and making our hands glow in the dark. Had to walk a few times along the route placing the xylem straws and J1s sleeping spots. Played with the walkie talkie for a while at Punai hut and taking a short break before the J1s arrived. Qihui and i were busy moving the J1s at various spots and our job was done after the last J1 of Group 1 arrived. Then, had to "camo" ourselves along their route and then started "talking". Mr Lam was with us but he slept a few mins later...hahah!! it was really funny and we started laughing. After that, we had our short rest and slept for a while until thunder started to roar and we had to cut short the activity and proceed back to the campsite. Still remember last year solonight where people say that they saw weird things and heard strange sounds. It was really an enriching last year when we had solonight and i was without my torch. Lights out at around 0430.

Day 3 (Palau Ubin -> SAJC Compound)

Woke up at around 0730 and it was raining but still we had to unpitch the tents and carried on our trek back to the jetty but this time at a more relaxing pace. The mood of the J1s then was quite high as they were all so excited about going home. It was the same for us last year and that resulted in the shock when we shouted hornet attack at a junction near to the jetty. The ODAC tradition of mass hornet attack. They had to evacuate the "victims" to the basketball court where treatment had to be given. After finishing, proceeded back to mainland Singapore and then back to SAJC. They had to wash their tents and we had our most interesting debriefing with the J1s. They related their experience in the camp with us and we shared ours with them. They even said that we were like "bian se long" as we could be nice to them for one moment and fierce to them the next. Hahah.. they are quite fortunate already as we didn't had the same kind of seniors last year. After that gave them a mahjong paper to draw whatever they like on it about the camp. It was really funny to see that they drew what the experience during the camp and drew us as well. Really surprised to see that they think i was the fiercest group leader among our group!! They had peer evaulation before breaking camp. The J2s had debrief in the trophy room but before that, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY XIUHUI & QIHUI!!". Cutted the cake before having the approximately 1 hour debrief where we had quite a lot of laughter even though we were tired and see the sight of joshua stoning for very long. J2s camp break at around 1730.

it has been a year since we experienced all these menace from our seniors in this camp. All the memories started rolling back into our minds since the camp started. From the scoldings during station games on the first day to the mass hornet attack when we were happily trekking to the jetty from Noordin beach. The unexpected night activity after our campfire last year which brought fears in some of our hearts. The talking flowers and wild boars in the morning after solonight told to us. All the things that we did in last year seem to be a re-enactment of what happened during this year's OEC. No matter how different this batch of J1s is compared to us, we had been through the same camp, forged the strong bonds between ODACers and push on to achieve greater heights. One major camp is over, another is coming, look forward to LTC 2007!!
