ODAC LTC Camp

Day 1 (26/5/06)

At 1500, we assembled at the trophy room with all our stuff to set off for the camp. All of us were in PT kit and our heavy bagpacks; logistics were evenly distributed to the different groups and after sorting out the things, we proceeded to East Coast Park for day cycling. We reached East Coast Park at around 1630 and we started wearing our helmets for cycling. Moving off at 5 mins intervals, we cycled for around 1 hour. After which we proceeded our campsite. We had our dinner and proceeded to our respective dormitories where we had spacious places to sleep in. At 0010, lights out!

Day 2 (27/5/06)

We woke up at 0600 for our morning PT and then went to eat breakfast - Fried Bee hoon which proofed to be disastrous in the later part of the day. After which we went for the high elements section; most of us were playing this for the 1st time and thus, we were a bit nervous. However, we managed to conquer our fear of heights and complete the task. We were asked to conduct the stations and explain the safety rules and regulations on playing the game. At this point of time, many of the people were starting to have stomach upsets and the toilet was almost packed with people. We knew that something was not going right. After which we proceeded to lunch and of course the toilet. Many of us had stomach upsets and went to the toilet multiple times during the next few activites that were installed for us. We had knot-tying lessons and tests after that. Rafting was fun but tiring as we were supposed to build a raft for all our group members to sit on. After which was the wet part of the day where we went into the water to play numerous games. I missed out the part on kayaking as i had stomach upsets and my shoe was torn and broken ): We went to bathe after that and had our dinner where many of us onli ate bread as we were not feeling well.... a bad day for all of us!

Day 3 (28/5/06)

Today was the whole day on team-building games as we conducted numerous stations and went to toilets frequently.. not much to comment on the reason why. My station was very badly done as i had stomach upset while conducting the station, therefore i had missed out on many parts that a station master should do. Not a good day too!!

Day 4 (29/5/06)

The most boring day; had to conduct area cleaning before we go home.... Guangyang Secondary School was the next school to inhabit this campsite.... saw a familiar face - Mr Lee Chee Kiong. Cat High people, you should know who he is.. hahah... Went back to school at about 1500 where we counted our logistics and do some admin work. Overall, an enriching and somewhat relaxing camp if the food was good!

Wao... juz came back home from the soccer match at CCAB. SA lost 2-0 to VJC in the semi-finals ): aiming to finish 3rd again.... It was a one-sided game... SA went to defend from the start of the game. Posession was usually on the VJ side... the onli good chance SA had was from a corner and an open-header but the player failed to convert it into a goal. VJ had a penalty in the final minutes of the game to bring the game beyond hope for SA and wrote down the final score 2-0. There were many SA supporters for the soccer match and instantly took up half of the stadium. From wad i heard, SA boys' hockey lost 1-0 to VJ but SA won VJ in the tennis competition. The above was today's competition. Yesterday, we went to Home Team Academy in Old Choa Chu Kang road for the rugby cup final against RJ. SA was 3-10 down with onli 10 mins left but through the support of the SA crowd, we managed to press on and scored 2 touch-downs that led to the rugby team clinching the police cup which they had been waiting for 17 years. In yesterday's matches, SA girls' soccer lost to TJC in a closely fought match which eventually led to penalty shoot-out whereby SA lost 5-4. That's the end of the update of the sports update. If you wan to see more on the rugby matches, you can go to http://youtube.com/profile?user=glandliang .. kindly taken by my friend, Glen... Up And On!!!

yesterday was our wonderful 08 dinner again!! after school, which was at 2.15pm.... (because muru never come to school again for gp), we waited impatiently until about 6 for lynette to finish her canoeing training b4 we go to marina square for our dinner. After a pretty long discussion, we managed to settle in on billy bombers. I ordered oatmeal fish which was not tasty at all; and it cost me 22 bucks!!! realli expensive.. but luckily, the ice-cream was nice. As usual, we took many pics as a class (PAE06S08 of course). We chatted and talked until about 9 plus before reluctantly going home.... i miss 08!!! Can't wait for the next 08 outing (:

Yesterday was a realli tiring day; we had our 1st ODAC PT. By 1500, we changed into our PT kit and waited patiently for the PT to start. After our stretching and basic exercises, we proceeded to the pull-up bars for pull-ups. Then, the real training began. We had to do 3 sets of the following exercises - 20 push-ups, 20 sit-ups, 50 counts of 8 for jumping jacks, 20 ranger kicks, 20 ranger jumps, 20 dips..... the most tiring of all were the 3 sets of 20 of ranger jumps... our legs were aching real badly after that. After the latter was a break before a 2.4km run around the track.... the training was finally over!!! We played handball which was fun (: then, lester and i went to AMK to meet tee tong for dinner. We ate at the japanese restaurant; i ate 1 chicken teriyaki set, 1 udon and 1 cold soba.. not mentioning the side dishes we ordered... and i was still not full after that.. surprising rite??? i didn't expect that i could eat 3 main course.. hahah.. but that cost me 13 bucks for a meal!! i tink i am going to be broke for joining ODAC!!

SC Interview

The SC interview was supposed to start at 1500... but i had to wait until 1730 for the interview. The interview room was quite scary... imagine 3 SC exco members and one teacher to one student. It was like in American Idol... the judges sitting in a row to bombard you with questions... They asked questions like, "do you know how to sing the 2nd stanza of the school hymn?", leaving me stunned.. but in the end, i sang the 1st stanza to them as i did not know the 2nd stanza of the school hymn. There were also simple questions which i could not answer, "Who are the teachers in charge of SC?"... i like "err.. i don't know". Haiz... i don tink i am going to pass my interview anyway. So, wish all my friends who are having their SC interview all the best!!!

OEC CAMP

DAY 1 - SAJC Compound

After the SC interview, i rushed to the coffeeshop with maurice to have my dinner. At that time, it was raining heavily and we did not have our umbrellas with us. So, we were all drenched when we reached school. Since it was raining heavily, we were unable to pitch our tents. We had our fun during the obstacle course that the seniors organized for us. It was fun but tiring; a lot of teamwork was needed to complete them. The obstacle course lasted until about 2230.. then we had to pitch our tents on the grass patch juz beside the basketball court. It was quite wet and we had to sleep on the somewhat wet ground. Bathing was an essential thing as we knew it was the last day we could bathe throughout the camp. We had our de-brief and journal writing at 2330 and lights-out at 0015.

DAY 2 - SAJC Compound => Palau Ubin

Woke up at 0515 to get ready for morning PT which was supposed to start at 0600. We rushed to the toilets to clean ourselves up and changed into our PT kit. At 0600 sharp, we had our morning PT which consist of running, push-ups, crunches, horse-stand etc... It was quite tiring and we had to do multiple times of these exercises. After the latter, we ate our breakfast and hurried to the foyer to catch the bus to Ubin. When we reached Ubin, we had our trek to the campsite which was a half an hour walk with all our backpacks and equiments on. Throughout the walk, there were running and brisk-walking involved. Believe me, brisk-walking is about the same as running. So, when we arrived at the campsite, we were all tired out. After putting down our stuffs and pitching our tents, we had our orienteering around Ubin. We spent half the day walking around Ubin and had various different scenarios during the course. For example, there were people missing during the walks, hornet attacks etc. which we had to adapt quickily to the situation, applying the skills we learnt. We came back to the campsite at around 1730 to prepare for our field-cooking. Unfortunately, the weather was not good as it was about to rain. So we hurriedly cook the instant noodles and ate them. I was realli hungry as i gobbled down 4 packets of noodles and hotdogs. Oh ya...forgot to say that we onli had energy bars for our meals. After the latter was the campfire night which we sang songs and had our performances which was totally pathetic which i muz say... hahah... it was realli a fun experience. When we thought that all had ended and that we were going to have a good night rest, a surprise was installed for us. The seniors told us that we were going to have our solo night in Ubin. So, we gathered our journals, ponchos and torches to set off for the solo night. We had to walk to our dispatch point which was a 20 mins walk from our campsite. I was the last person to be dispatched from the hut and thus, i had to walk the nearest to my destinated point. The place i had to sleep on was pitch-dark and full of insects.. yucks!! so, i lay down my poncho and slept... although the ground was not levelled and there were full of insects and weird noises, i managed to sleep. Oh ya... and i forgot to write about the reflections.. hahah. At about 0300, we were led back to our campsite where we had a good "nite" sleep.

DAY 3 - Palau Ubin => SAJC Compound

We had to wake up at about 0700 where we unpitched our tents and had our breakfast. We had area cleaning and left for the jetty at around 0900. On the way back, we had 2 scenarios on hornet attacks and had to cover ourselves with the ponchos. We had to run up and down to carry the "causalites" to a safe point etc. It was realli tiring as we had to carry our bags and at the same time, attend to them. By the time we reached the jetty, we were all sweating profusely. We then returned to school via boat and bus; loved the Singapore toilet as we had to dig our own toilet in Ubin. Upon arrival in school, we had to put down our bags and clean up the tents and ground sheets... onli managed to finish the stuffs at around 1500. Had a nice bath and took a cab to Marina Square to eat Carl's Junior... it was realli a great meal!!! That's all for the camp!!
