Today i went down to the yearly "chun dao he pan" exhibtion at the padang. It was indeed a festive occasion; many heads filled the area and people were packed like sardines. So, my parents and i went down to join in the buzz. As usual, there were many stalls selling new year decos and paintings. It was almost everyone's priority to go and look at their new year prediction for their zodiac, mine was not an exception. I managed to squeeze into the crowd and get a glimpse of the prediction. The year of the snake was overall not bad, having good fortune, average health, good in studies and lastly, excellent in their love life. I was like, huh?? Excellent in love life. This is my 1st year in a mixed school and in contact with girls everyday in school, so the prediction that "snakes" are doing well in their love life this year really kind of shocked me. I was thinking "never mind.. there are many people born in the year of snake this year, so it may not be me who would excel in the love life." So we continued walking until we see the wishing well. As the results of the GCE O'level draws near, i decided to have a chance at the wishing well, hoping to hit the bell that writes "xue ye meng jin" which means excelling in studies. So, my mum gave me 2 coins to throw and try to hit the bell. i squeezed into the crowd and manage to get a view of the bell before tossing the coin. Out of my surprise, i hitted the bell beside it ---- "mei man yin yuan"... i was rooted to the ground, to be honest, speechless.... How would i possibly have a "mei man yin yuan"??? k.... that may be juz a moment of luck... so i aimed at the "xue ye meng jin" bell again and threw the coin. I was shocked when it hitted the "mei man yin yuan" words.... is this fate??? i truly look forward to see what is installed for me in this year and at the same time determine whether the prediction is true anot??? Love life??? We will see in the next 365 days....

Today is the 1st time in the year that i did a "bad" thing.... haha.. i pon school. Wednesday in the lianhe zaobao, i read about the segment on horoscope when i saw this sentence - "白羊座的人都必须懂得饮水思源,做事才会成功". I saw like quite shocked when i read this, cause i wasn't planning to go back to cat high during chinese new year. After much consideration, i decided to 饮水思源 and return to cat high. Yesterday, we went for our so-called secondary school friends gathering at seoul garden. There were 10 of us present at the dinner and we laughed and talked as we fill our stomaches. I tink most of us were too engrossed in our conversion that we neglected the food.... I did not realli eat my full as i had to eat cup noodle at home for supper at about 11.30pm. Many interesting things happened during the dinner[ for more details, pls proceed to my photo album at the bottom of my blog. There's a link that leads to the photo album on the bottom left hand column]. ** including maurice's gay pose, it's a muz see!! Anyway, we walked from seoul garden in ang mo kio to the grassroots leaders club in yio chu kang to take some photos. After that we went to play bowling... quite fun la... we went home at about 11.15pm, that's the excuse to be unavailable for school tomorrow... haha.. can't wake up. Anyway, found out that tee tong has a secret admirer in school..... don't wan to say anymore, or else will get beaten up!! Shh.... cannot say anymore, visit his blog to see if he got write lor. Then, we went to Cat high today at 10 to visit our teachers....饮水思源 wad. Cat high did not change that much, onli the soccer field got ripped off it's grass and a street soccer court became it's replacement. Nothing much at Cat high la, juz watch performance and shake hands with teachers.. nothin special to write about. K la... that's about all that i will write about for today... anything interesting that happened in your school today, pls tag it.. i would love to read.. thanx... One more reminder, remember to see the photos and you will not be disappointed!!

After the "tiring" cross-country, we went for our OG lunch at Suntec City. After changing into our home clothes, we decided to eat at Pizza Hut. We went in and fill our stomachs as we ordered sumptuous meals to satisfy our hunger pangs. After the meal, we went to the toilet to relieve ourselves. Wad is really funny about this is that maurice and seng yong followed the girls into the female toilet... haha... we were in the gents when we heard laughter from outside... then we see an embarassed maurice coming into the gents laughing.... Let's see.. maybe he did that on purpose... maybe not.... make a guess yourself. Anyway, the girls were like laughing when they came out of the ladies toilet... poor maurice.... We then went to play bowling and saw a display of jin hui's special way of throwing the bowling ball....haha... That was about all for the day at outing... hope this would not be the last outing of OG13, it is certainly fun!!

Today is the big day.. the SAJC annual cross-country. We reported to macritchie reservoir at 0730 for our "run". We then proceeded to the starting line to begin our run. The sound of the loud horn marks the start of our run. Surprisingly, the "atmosphere" at the starting line is completely different from the ones we experienced in our 4 years at Cat high. Normally, we would stand eagerly at the starting line to try to get a head-start in the race. We realised that most of the students in SAJC waited at the back of the crowd to begin their "run". Our "run" was quite smooth and we "soon" emerged from the jungle into the main road after 40 mins later.... my fastest timing ever.. haha.... Things were made more interesting when the girls' race started. We were soon overtaken by the girls in the race as we were "running" too quickily already. This was the 1st time in my life that i took 40 mins to walk out of the 3.0km jungle walk. At the main road, we proceeded rather smoothly until the last runner pushed us to run. What a joke!! we were among the last during the "run". We then started running towards the finishing line and took about 10 mins to reach. That was very fast compared to the run in the jungle...haha.. Anyway, we still managed to grab a few cups of milos... Oh ya... this year champion house is Loy Fatt.. that is my house. See, we don even need to run to win the championship...haha

Today marks the first lesson of PE in SAJC... i was a bit nervous of who the PE teacher for our CG would be... remember the previous entry of the case where Glen's basketball got confiscated by a PE teacher. I was praying damn hard that our PE is not him.... Ben Soh to be exact. The 1st period of the day was quite boring as it is a GP tutorial lesson, i almost fell asleep in class today. At 0845, we went for PE. As i walked along the corridors, my heart was thumping real hard. When we were at the gallery, a teacher walked towards our direction. I was like praying that this would be our PE teacher. I heaved a sigh of relief; a while later, i was in a mode of shock when i was made the PE rep. Argh..... got "sabo" again... but never mind, anyway i kind of like our PE teacher Mr Tan, he's juz a typical joker.. haha. Okay, 1st lesson of PE - height and weight. After being with my CG for about 2 weeks onli did i come to realise that most of our classmates are quite light... to be exact.. mostly boys. It is like i am 60kg and considered the 4th heaviest in class.. quite ridiculous rite? I was quite sad today as i had dropped by 2kg of running in the park consecutively for 2 days.... haha.. i don quite know about the body system but my body seem easy to juz slim down then fattening up... so.. in conclusion.. i must eat more!!

Haiz.... the result of 4 years in a boys' school - Catholic High... Look wad has happened to me. I need 4 days to mix around with new friends, mainly girls. Boys are easy to click together as we all share the same hobbies... eg. gaming, soccer, basketball.... but for girls, we don quite have a common topic. Wad surprises me was that we found out a common topic among our CG group - Gambling. Eh??? Weird Rite??? It's like we are onli 16 plus and all of us share the "passion" for gambling. Moreover, CNY is drawing near, so they started to discuss about going to whose house for gambling during CNY. Only today did i found out most of the names of people in our CG class. Our CG class consist of more boys than girls which is very unlike our OG which has a proportion of 1 boy to 2 girls... haha... cause there are 9 boys and 18 girls. Anyway, it's been quite difficult for me to get into their common topic and speak freely there... Cat High.... All boys talk the "same language". One characteristic of our CG is that all of us are Chinese although most of the people in my CG speak English. I tink i would have to adapt to the changing environment and speak English more often even though my English is not as good.... So, i hope to know more about my CG friends in the next week!! Bonding??? maybe.... but i still need to know about them first!

Finally!!! I get to touch my guitar after 3 years.... Haha.. the last time i touch the guitar was when i was learning the basics of pop guitar during an enrichment course in secondary school. At that time, we learned onli 2 songs - The Young Ones, Blue Reef or something like that. So, today when i touch the guitar again, i realised that i had forgotten all the basics of guitar.... haiz.... muz learn again... So i went to the basic pop guitar lesson and re-learn about the basics of strumming and chords. Only today that i realised that my fingers are not able to bend 90 degrees... so playing guitar is quite tough 4 me.

I was thinking whether a person can change a lot in a short span of time..... today's incident realli startled me. We were in school chit-chatting when maurice show us this picture of our sec school friend, Samuel... we started laughing about his appearance in the low sec sch times. As Samuel was considered short and "tanned" when he was in his low sec, he was often mocked by us.... when we were admiring the pic, maurice started passing the pic around. When it was Seng Yong's turn to see the pic, he asked," Who's this???" and started thinking. After a while, he came up with an intelligent answer, he said," Is this Shi Yi???". All of us began laughing like mad.... Even Shi Yi himself started laughing.... Slowly, we examined the picture... we found out that Samuel has indeed changed a lot in a short span of time... to be exact 3 years. But wad realli surprised us was that Samuel who is about 1.5 plus metres is mistaken as Shi Yi who is now about 1.9 metres tall already.... Wad is more surprising is that many of our OG and CG people all thought that the one in the photograph was Shi Yi!! Wad an unexpected outcome!! Even those who do not know of Samuel all take Shi Yi as him... Wad a big joke!!! Haha..... this is one of the interesting thing that happened today!

Today at school, something very interesting happened.... You see, there was plenty of time before the 1st lesson, civics at 9.45a.m. One look at the basketball court which was not occupied and whoosh..... we dashed towards it and started playing. There were 7 of us on the court and we started dividing in two teams and began our game. All of us were in our school p.e attire except for maurice who was in his school shirt. We were enjoying ourselves when suddenly, the game came to a halt.... A teacher came walking in our direction and asked us to stop the game. I think it is because he spotted maurice not properly attired. Hence, the ball which belonged to glen was confiscated. We immediately went to apologise to him but he told us that he had something for us and asked us to find him at 11.45a.m. So, after our last lesson which was mathematics, we rushed to the p.e office to meet him... But i tink he got some sort of attitude problem, he told us that he had no time for us today and told us to find him tomorrow.... Er... i was wondering wad was the problem with him la.... like toying with us like that..... I really " look forward" to seeing him tomorrow to find out wad he had installed for us!!

Aiyo..... last time i didn't ever believe that jc life was tough at all!! Especially during the 1st 2 weeks of school in JC, it was so slack... even the lecture was not at all "educational". The lecturers onli introduced the lesson outlines for that particular subject and there goes the bell.... All of us then started streaming out of the CC to the cafe. Today was a totally different experience for all of us. How different?? The 1st lecture of the day which was maths made us start to realise how tough the life of a JC student can be..... But by the end of the 1 hour lecture, we still managed to make out wad the lecturer was talking about. The 1 hour break after the maths lecture was so important for all of us to take a much needed break before preparing for the worst ahead. True enough, the chemistry lecture was enough to "kill" us. The lecturer had to repeat her statement twice before the lot of us could comprehend wad she was saying.... after the torturing lecture, we were not even given a break before the physics lecturer came in for the next lesson. That was the worst lecture as the lecture was too "profound" for us to understand and the lecturer was speaking in a "language which we could not understand". I did not understand most of the lecture... i think most of the students too..... Anyway, when we thought the worst was over, there was this house time which introduces the various houses to us. My house name is the most "unique" of all [Loy Fatt].. i was realli wondering if this man was a chicken stall hawker in the school before??? You know Loy Kee, the famous chicken rice stall... not funny rite?? nvm..... We were introduced to the house captain and various posts in the houses.... There was also stage games which realli amused us..... At least something to relax after a long day... I truly hope that i could quickily adjust to JC life... torturing...

Phew..... juz came home after the 1st day of CCA in SAJC. During the CCA sign-up on wed, i signed up for ODAC and canoeing as my preferred CCAs... Luckily, i did not go for the canoeing trial today... I heard from my OG mates that they had to run 10 rounds around the track continously.... After hearing this "bad" news, i heaved a sigh of relief that i made the right decision in going to the guitar ensemble instead.. I know that with my fitness now, i was never going to complete a 10 round course around the school track. On the other hand, the guitar ensemble orientation was completely different from the vigorous training that the canoeing members had to endure. We sat comfortably in the air-con AVA room listening to performance put up by the seniors and then play ice-breaking games in our respective groups.... Although i was "sa bo" 3 times by maurice and my group members, we still had a lot of fun!! The only thing that disappointed us was that we were not taught how to play the guitar yet....

Today at 0940a.m, students from all the different OGs waited anxiously outside the general office to get a glimpse of their new CG classes.... Almost none of them were in laughter or even carry a smile on their faces... There is an obvious reason behind this "phenomenon", friendship has grown throughout the one week of orientation last week. Sometimes, i really want to question the school's motive for having an orientation group when the latter does not become your permanent group for the 1st 3 months in JC... I could still clearly remember the week of orientation when the guys don't dare to talk to the girls during the 1st few days and by the last day of the week, becoming good friends and talking about their lives as a group.... This was the strength of friendship. I strongly believe that once friendship develops amongst people, this source of energy will never die off that easily by merely the seperation of friends in different classes. Yesterday when we had our OG outing at City Hall, besides eating our food and having fun in the process, we went to take photographs at the magnificent Esplanade... It was really a saddening moment for us and maybe even the sky darken up and started "crying" for us.... Memories of OG13 in SAJC 2006 orientation will continue to live in me even as i start making new friends in my new CG.... Wishing all members of SAJC OG13 all the best in their studies and hope that you will cherish the memories of OG13 the same way as i did...

The orientation is over and lesson begins...... There is not much of lessons today except for a maths lecture at around 9.45a.m. As usual, we went to school at 7.30a.m and after the morning assembly, we went around slacking... there were not many things to do around the new school compound. The library was not open and the field was not ready for us to play soccer; thus, we walked around the school compound trying to explore the remainder of the school. When we finally sat down to rest, we were approached by Mr "Attention Seeker" Jeremy, he was like a stray cat, strolling around the place, trying to engage in a conversion with others. Sometimes, i really pity him.... After a hard spent 2 hours, it was time for lecture. The lecture was conducted in the CC (Cultural Centre).. the rest of the lecture was quite boring as many of the things were taught before in sec school a maths... But nvm, we took it as a quick revision. Anyway, after the 1 hour of lecture, we had to wait for the last lesson of the day, that is the CCA talk. During the CCA talk, we were introduced to many different CCAs in the school and wad interest me was the ODAC..... i really feel like joining the latter but they said that we must pass an entry test to get in... really hope that i can get in la!! Our OG are planning to have a outing tomorrow; it is the last time we can meet as a group to go out together.... Thinking about this, i am quite sad that we have to be seperated from each other after we start getting to know each other.. the sorting out of classes will be known on wed.. i suppose i won't be in the same class as most of our OG members... Anyway, i would like to wish the members of OG13 all the best in their studies!! Great to have known you!!! Take care!!

As some say,"all good times must come to an end", the finale of orientation 2006 in SAJC marks the end of the great times we spent together as an OG. Friday 6/1/06 was the best day spent in SAJC orientation. Lined up for us in the morning was the registration of subject combination, after that was all the preparation for the grand finale later in the evening. We were sowhat involved in the making of identities for our tribe... Skipping all the details, we came to the best part of the day... the grand finale.... We were firstly entertained by the plays put up by members from the different tribes. After that was the cheering competition that took place in the school hall.... "Save the best for the end", this statement was proven by the last item that was installed for us. The hall suddenly transformed into a disco; all of the students in the hall started dancing and swaying with the music... The fun only ended at about 2100... We went to the nearby Mac to have our stomachs filled up again... The entire Mac was packed up with students from SA, the tables and chairs were lined up in rows which the OGs occupied.. Thus after our meals, the manager of Mac had to ask us to put back the tables and chairs before we are allowed to leave. Next week marks the beginning of "school", all the fun had to come to an end... but nevertheless, the days of orientation in SAJC was simply fun!!! If school could be so fun, i don mind going to school everyday!! haha.. but that was just a wild thought!! if you ask me if i am looking forward to school next week, my answer would be a definite "NO"

Day 3 of orientation was simply tough and tiring... Firstly in the day was doing some community service by going to potong pasir estate to collect newspaper for charity. We were gathered at the void-deck beneath our respective blocks for a briefing before we started the work. We all know that this was going to be a rather tough job as experienced by us when we were in cat high.. Thinking back of the days when in sec school when 5 of us had to collect newspapers in a 20 plus storey block.. that was really tiring... We had expected the same to happen today but no.... the job was truly relaxing... we only had to collect about a small stack of newspaper... It may be due to the early timing when we reached there... We were divided into groups of 5 when we set out... We finished the earliest at around 0930 but unfortunately for us, we had to wait til around 1100 before the lorry arrive. After lunch, we proceeded to the station games or wad they call jungle warfare.... there were 6 stations which we had to go through. The obstacles were usually somewhat related to teamwork and cooperation and thus we managed to complete the tasks successfully. After the challenges, most of us were drenching wet and had to change.... The most tiring part was that of the meeting in relation to tomorrow's finale.. we had to stay back til about 1840 before we are released. Once again, it is thanx to our "enthusiast" Jeremy Lim that we had to stay behind to listen to his comments... I really look forward to the finale that we had put so much effort into!!

I have never tried dancing in my life before until today..... there was only one word to describe the result - disastrous. In the 2nd day of the orientation at SAJC, the day looked fine for us as exciting games like C.S.I awaited us. In this game, we had to pass 6 challenges to find for clues to solve the identity of the murderer. After much cooperation within our Orientation group, we were able to win 4 out of the 6 obstacles successfully. We managed to complete the obstacles and proceeded for lunch in the cafe.... Just when we finished our meals and thought we were going to have a much-needed rest, we were shocked to find out that the next programme was going to be mass-dancing. I was the 1st one to be alarmed at the news... just as i said before, i had never tried dancing before, i had a premonition that there would not be a good outcome. We became even more surprised when we found out that the so-called SA"traditional dance" had to be danced by 2 people of the opposite sex.... You must really know that i am from a boys' school, so it is quite difficult to ask a girl to dance with you, it's just too awkward or embarassing for you to ask a girl to dance if you yourself don't know about dancing. Fortunately for me, i soon found myself a partner and we started learning the dance.... After much difficulty and perspiration, we managed to get at least some of the steps correct... At least an achievement!!! After that was the usual cheers and debrief.... Just when we thought we could finally leave, we were asked to stay back until about 6pm to discuss matters on the events on the last day of orientation.... What was worse was that Jeremy Lim, the "enthusiast" kept giving lame suggestions.... I really wanted to stuff an apple to shut him out!!! Oops... too violent.... Ok.. that's bout all for today's orientation.

Picture taken from http://www.standrewsjc.moe.edu.sg

The 1st day of school for everyone is always full of surprises.... mine is no exception. 3/1/06, the 1st time in 4 years that i had to catch a bus to school. As i stayed relatively near to my sec school, Catholic High, i only need a 5 mins slow walk to school everyday. Everything seem to have topple upside down today. Waking up at 6am instead of the usual 7am to go to school... that was the 1st change. I just had to enjoy the 5 mins walk to the bus-stop as in the later part of the journey to school, i don seem to be able to relax as people cramp like sardines on the bus 13. The walk to school was nothing special except we see students from schools all around Singapore walking in the same direction as us. Arriving at the school, we hurriedly check our names and class allocation.. unfortunately, most of us were seperated from each other.... luckily, i still have maurice who is in the same group as me... Glen was in the same class as Shi Yi while Yong Wei went solo...so sad.... other boys(gentlemen) from cat high gathered in their respective groupings. The 2nd event after the subject combi was the traditional ice-breaking game... we get to know "some" friends... although there were 5 of us in the class from cat high, we still get to know about 10 people in class. The cafe consist a wide variety of food ranging from muslim food,
indian cuisine, chicken rice.... After the meal, we proceeded to tour around the school. We were led by our OG leader, Boon Kiat around. Maybe he don't know the school quite well since it is new, so he led us on a "wild goose chase"... Haha... took us to the wrong block. We met up with our OG tutor, Mdm Ng who appears to look quite friendly but was later "stunned" by our lack of response when posed questions... that's bout all on the 1st day of orientation... Oh.. there is still the cheers and the school song which sounded disastrous when sung by us... haha.. that's all for the 1st day of orientaion...

Of all the good memories of 2005, the grad nite during the year-end holiday was the most memorable.. This was the 1st time in my life that there was such a grand and big gathering of classmates or rather friends in a hotel. What was really special about this event was that the atmosphere was really different from those we experienced when we eat our meals... In school, when everyone of us had recess, it was just a quick meal without much conversation between us. During the event of grad nite, all of us concentrated more on engaging conversation with our friends than enjoy the sumptuous meal in front of us... Weird.. you might think but that was true for all of us.. Although the dishes were mouth-watering, none of us had the so-called "feel" to eat. During the event held at oriental hotel, there were performances and games which we somewhat enjoy.... As the clock strike 12 in the night last night or rather this morning, i had this memory flashback about the great times we 4-4 of Catholic High School spent together.... Thanx guys for the fun and entertainment you have given me in this year !!! Friends forever!!
